It’s been a while since last blog post! I’ve been busy and kept putting it off.. I’ll try to keep you posted on our latest news!

さて、実は私AKKOとKIYOは沖縄写真デザイン工芸学校ジュエリーデザイン科の講師もしているのですが、明後日7月7日(金)〜9日(日)の間、沖縄県立博物館・美術館の県民ギャラリー1にて、二年次生徒2名の作品展を行います。入場無料です♡

Kiyo and I are also working as tutors of Jewellery Design Course at Okinawa School of Photo Design and Crafts. We have an exhibition from this Friday 7th to Sunday 9th at Art Gallery 1, Okinawa Prefectural Museum. It’s admission free!

ジュエリーデザイン科はコンテンポラリージュエリーという、いわゆるアートジュエリーの分野を中心に、デッサン、彫金、工芸の分野を学んでいます。そして最終的なジュエリー作品だけでなく、どのようにアイディアが発展して作品となっていったのか、そのプロセスに重きを置いているので、生徒にはスケッチブックやテストピースを積極的に作らせています。

今回の展示会『羽化 – Emergence -』では、そのスケッチブックやアイディアの発展段階で作ったテストピース、その中で派生してできた体験型のアート作品も展示します。

In Jewellery Design Course, students learn drawing, metalworking, weaving, ceramics and so on,　mainly focusing on contemporary jewellery, which is a field of art jewellery.  We don’t pay attention only to a final outcome, but also to a process of idea development. In this exhibition “Emergence”, we will show sketchbooks and test pieces to show how students develop their ideas further. We will also display a bigger artwork you can interact with.

生徒たちは入学してから初めてアートやコンテンポラリージュエリーの勉強を始めたわけですが、課題をこなすごとにどんどん成長し進化していくので、とても頼もしいです。

The students started art and jewellery just one year and half ago. It’s very interesting to see how their works change as they work on projects one after another.

ジュエリーデザイン科は三年制のコースなので、今回はまだ手探りで粗削りな二年次生徒の作品展となりますがきっと楽しんでもらえると思います！是非遊びにいらしてください✨

Jewellery Design Course is a three-year course, and the second year students are the exhibitors this time. Their works are by no means refined, but you will find them interesting! Please come and visit✨
